Privacy notice

This notice explains what RaidJury collects when you read the docket or join the digest, why it is collected and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written for the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

1. Who is responsible

RaidJury is an independent editorial desk publishing reviews of mobile games at raidjury.com. RaidJury is responsible for the personal information described here. Questions, access requests and complaints go to inbox@raidjury.com.

2. What is collected

2.1 Technical information

• IP address, browser user-agent, device and operating-system type, screen size class;
• the page requested, the referring page, the date and time of the request;
• server log entries kept for security and fault-finding.

2.2 Information you give us

• the e-mail address you enter in the digest form;
• your name, if you choose to enter it — the field is optional;
• a record that you ticked the consent box, with the date and time.

2.3 Browser notification identifiers

• the subscription identifier your browser issues when you allow notifications;
• the browser and platform that identifier belongs to, and whether a notification was delivered or opened.

2.4 Cookies and local storage

Cookies, local storage and similar technologies are described in full in the cookie notice, including how long each category lasts and how to turn the optional ones off.

3. Why it is collected

• To deliver the digest — sending one note per docket to the address you gave us. Basis: your consent, given by ticking the box.
• To send browser notifications — only where your browser permission has been granted. Basis: your consent, given in the browser prompt.
• To operate and secure the site — serving pages, spotting faults, blocking abusive traffic. Basis: our legitimate function in running the site.
• To measure the site and its advertising placements — aggregate statistics on visits and placement performance. Basis: your consent through the cookie banner, where consent is required.

4. How long it is kept

• Server logs: up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated.
• Digest address and optional name: until you leave the list, and for 12 months afterwards so that we can show the request was honoured.
• Consent records: 24 months from the date consent was given or revoked.
• Notification identifiers: until you remove the permission in your browser or the identifier stops responding.

5. Who else sees it

We do not sell personal information. It is disclosed only to the service providers that make the site work:

• Hosting and content delivery — the provider serving these pages, which processes request logs on our behalf.
• OneSignal — processes the digest e-mail list and browser notification identifiers on our behalf. OneSignal is based in the United States, so this is a disclosure of personal information overseas under Australian Privacy Principle 8.
• Advertising networks — where an advertising placement is served, the network receives the technical information described in section 2.1 in order to deliver and measure the placement.
• Anyone we are legally required to disclose to, such as a regulator or a court order.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of these providers store information outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to ensure each provider handles personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, and we choose providers that publish their own data-protection commitments.

7. Your rights

• Access — you can ask what personal information we hold about you (APP 12).
• Correction — you can ask us to correct anything inaccurate or out of date (APP 13).
• Deletion — you can ask us to erase your address and any optional name from the digest list.
• Consent — you can revoke consent at any time. For e-mail, the unsubscribe line in every note does it; for browser notifications, remove the permission in your browser's site settings.
• Anonymity — you may read the whole docket without identifying yourself; nothing on this site requires an account.

8. Complaints

If you believe your personal information has been mishandled, write to us first at inbox@raidjury.com and we will investigate and reply in writing. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the regulator for the Privacy Act 1988, at oaic.gov.au or by telephone on 1300 363 992.

9. Security

Pages and form submissions are served over an encrypted connection. Access to the digest list is limited to the members of the editorial desk who need it, and third-party providers are engaged under their own confidentiality terms. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we keep only what the site actually needs.

10. Children

The site is written for adults. The digest is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly keep personal information from anyone under 15. If you believe a child has joined the list, write to us and the record will be removed.

11. Changes to this notice

If this notice changes, the new version replaces this page and the date at the top is updated. Material changes to how the digest works will also be described in the digest itself.
